When All Children Were Millionaires

Germany in the 1920's suffered from hyper-inflation when money became almost worthless. At its worst there were 420,000,000,000 German Marks to the American Dollar. Can you imagine four hundred and twenty billion Marks to the Dollar. A suitcase full of mone would buy a pair of shoelaces. The price of a meal could double in the short time between ordering and being served. It was much cheaper for children to play with a million Marks than with toys. It was against a background like this that National Socialism came to power, offering to take the people out of abject poverty and restore their national pride. Initially the Nazis did just that, and then, as sually happens with total power one gets total corruption which doesn't know when to stop. Lest we forget (copyright Photo Webshots).
