The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has released a total of 5.5 billion CFA francs (8.38 million euros, 7.1 million dollars) to Burkina Faso for poverty alleviation schemes, the IMF said here Tuesday.
The three-yearly programme was approved on September 10, 1999 by the Washington-based body.
The latest tranche takes the total amount of aid granted so far to 32 million euros.
The IMF initiative is also aimed at reducing Burkina Faso's external debt by about 400 million dollars, a communique said.
An IMF mission is due in Ouagadougou in the first week of September to review the fourth phase of the programme. |
