The World Bank announced Saturday it is to lend a further 45 million dollars (49 million euros) to the impoverished state of Burkina Faso next March, to improve health, education and rural development.
The loan follows the granting of an identical sum to the West African country in August this year, said David Craig, the bank's newly-appointed head of operations.
"The goal of reducing poverty can only be achieved by efficient management of public spending," he added.
The country has been singled out for praise by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) because it is on track to reach IMF debt-reduction targets by November. |
